After attending a calligraphy workshop, I wanted to approach the idea of a chair differently—not by designing it in the usual way, but by expressing it as an imaginary ideogram. I was inspired by traditional calligraphy, playing with light and shadow, and exploring how variations in line thickness can create visual interest. This gave the whole concept a poetic feel.
So, the Daiku chair came to life like a calligraphic stroke—fluid, expressive, and precise.
